Jets Rumors: GM Joe Douglas Hasn't Signed New Contract; 'All Sides Are Comfortable'
New York Jets general manager Joe Douglas' long-term future with the team is reportedly still uncertain even as the club eyes a playoff run in 2024.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Sunday that Douglas is entering the final year of his contract and called him "a rare GM who did not sign an extension prior to his deal expiring."
However, Rapoport added that "all sides are comfortable with the position."

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮
It does dial up the pressure a bit for a team that has not reached the postseason since the 2010 campaign and is coming off back-to-back 7-10 seasons. But the roster talent is in place to change that with Aaron Rodgers leading the way under center and players Douglas drafted, such as Garrett Wilson and Sauce Gardner, checking in on both sides of the ball.
New York had Super Bowl expectations last season as well, but those were quickly undercut when Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles in the first game.
Those expectations return with the future Hall of Famer, and Rapoport suggested "Douglas' situation likely takes care of itself" if the team lives up to its realistic goals.
There is plenty of risk involved with relying on a 40-year-old quarterback coming off such a serious injury and with pass-rusher Haason Reddick still holding out, but the star power is there with Rodgers, Wilson, Breece Hall, Gardner and Quinnen Williams, among others.
Douglas gets credit for bringing all that star power together, which could help him in future contract negotiations.
For now, though, the final season of his current deal starts Monday with a game against the San Francisco 49ers.
