Cowboys' Dak Prescott Has 'A Lot of Confidence' Contract Extension Gets Done
Despite being without a contract extension with the regular season nearing, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott feels good that he and his team will have a new deal figured out eventually.
"Good conversations are going on, I will say that," Prescott said, per The Athletic's Jon Machota. "… A lot of confidence (that something will get done)."
Prescott is set to enter the final year of his four-year, $160 million contract and will earn $29 million this season.

Dallas seemingly wants to get Prescott an extension soon, as Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said Wednesday he hopes the new deal "gets done before the start of this season," per Yahoo Sports' Jori Epstein.
At this point, however, it's unclear how realistic Jones' goal is. The Athletic's Jeff Howe reported last week that "it doesn't appear the Cowboys and Prescott are close on an extension," so the next few weeks would need to see a lot of progress made for Prescott to enter the 2024 season with a new contract.
The 31-year-old is coming off an MVP-caliber season that saw him throw for 4,516 passing yards and an NFL-best 36 touchdowns.
This offseason saw several top quarterbacks get historic deals. Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa inked a four-year, $212.4 million deal, Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love signed a four-year, $220 million extension and Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence landed a five-year, $275 million contract, just to name a few.
Given another outstanding season from Prescott and the price of quarterbacks going up, it wouldn't be a surprise if the Cowboys made him one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the league to keep him around.
