Deion Sanders, Colorado Receive 1 Vote in 2024 AP Preseason College Football Poll

Jack MurrayAug 12, 2024

Someone believes in Deion Sanders' Colorado Buffaloes.

The Buffaloes did not make the AP Preseason Top 25 but did receive a single vote for inclusion. Colorado was the only program to receive just a single vote and was one of 17 teams that did not make the Top 25 but did receive a vote.

The wave of confidence comes one year after Colorado went 4-8, which marked a three-win improvement over the 2022 campaign.

That record doesn't mean the Buffaloes showed nothing that would make them worthy of a vote. Colorado started 2023 with a 3-0 record, with notable wins over now-conference rival TCU and historical rival Nebraska.

Pac-12 play was not kind to the Buffaloes last season as the team went 1-8 within the conference, but that is not something they will need to worry about this year. Colorado re-joined the Big 12 for the 2024 season, alongside Arizona, Arizona State and Utah, so it will be a different experience for the team this year.

Another positive is the return of some star power from 2023. Starting quarterback Shedeur Sanders is back and did have a solid season despite the team's struggles. He threw for 3,230 yards and 27 touchdowns with just three interceptions last season.

Two-way phenom Travis Hunter is also back and should be a tough matchup for teams.

Colorado will hope to prove that voter correct while taking a step forward as a program. That journey will start Aug. 29 when it hosts North Dakota State.
