Video: WWE Champ Cody Rhodes Reveals Zelda, Metal Gear Solid and Top 5 Video Games
Ahead of his SummerSlam match against Solo Sikoa on Saturday, undisputed WWE champion Cody Rhodes gave his picks for the top five video games of all time this week.
Appearing on GQ Sports' 10 Essentials, Rhodes named his Nintendo Switch one of the 10 things he can't live without, which led to him giving his opinion on the five best video games ever (beginning at the 9:30 mark):
Rhodes' list included a good mix of classic and modern games with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time at the top, followed by Metal Gear Solid, Red Dead Redemption II, Halo: Combat Evolved and Ghosts of Tsushima.
Ocarina of Time was originally released for the Nintendo 64 in 1998, Metal Gear Solid came out on the original PlayStation in 1998, Red Dead Redemption II was a 2018 release on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Halo: Combat Evolved was an original Xbox exclusive in 2001 and Ghosts of Tsushima is the newest game on Cody's list, originally hitting shelves in 2020 on the PlayStation 4.
The American Nightmare addressed those who might argue that Majora's Mask is a better Zelda game than Ocarina of Time by expressing his belief that Majora's Mask was essentially downloadable content before DLC became popularized, as it was "an extension" of Ocarina of Time.
Rhodes also noted that while he doesn't necessarily have much time to sink his teeth into modern console games, his Switch allows him to satiate his gaming cravings in the form of the SNES library, which he uses to play Donkey Kong Country.
For Cody, the fun and games may very well come to an end this weekend at SummerSlam when he clashes with Sikoa at Cleveland Browns Stadium in the likely main event.
Sikoa pinned Rhodes in a six-man tag team match at Money in the Bank, and he is perhaps the biggest threat yet to Cody's title reign, which began with a win over Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 in April.
