Top 100 MLB Prospect List: Where Do Charlie Condon, Top 2024 Draft Picks Rank?
With the 2024 MLB draft now complete, it's time for an updated version of our top 100 prospect list.
All told, 11 players who were selected in this year's draft immediately jumped onto our updated list, led by Oregon State second baseman Travis Bazzana, who went No. 1 overall to the Cleveland Guardians, and Georgia outfielder Charlie Condon, who was taken No. 3 overall by the Colorado Rockies.
The following factors helped determine where each player fell on our list:
- Potential: This trumps production a lot of the time, especially in the lower levels of the minors and with recent draft picks. Skill set and tools are often better indicators of what kind of player someone will be.
- Talent: For those in the higher levels of the minors who are close to breaking into the big leagues, production and talent level were the determining factors since the players are viewed as more complete products.
- Eligibility: A player must maintain rookie eligibility to be considered for inclusion. That means no more than 130 big league at-bats for position players, 50 innings for pitchers or 45 days on the active roster.
Let's start with 50 prospects who fell just outside the rankings, including 10 players from the 2024 draft class.

-Left-hander Ricky Tiedemann missed two months with nerve inflammation in his elbow, but he has been ramping back up and made his first start back at Triple-A on July 10 after some rehab work in the lower levels of the minors. The 21-year-old won Pitcher of the Year honors in the 2023 Arizona Fall League and was trending up heading into the season.
-It's become impossible to ignore the numbers that Kristian Campbell is putting up in his first full professional season. The 2023 third-round pick is hitting .351/.458/.589 with 25 doubles, 12 home runs and 44 RBI in 72 games between High-A and Double-A.
-Somewhat overlooked in a deep 2023 high school shortstop class, Cooper Pratt signed for way above slot with a $1.35 million bonus as a sixth-round pick. The 19-year-old is hitting .291/.388/.378 with 14 extra-base hits and 20 steals in 64 games at Single-A, showing a plus glove at shortstop and plenty of projection in his 6'4", 195-pound frame.

-After striking out 171 batters in 126.2 innings between Double-A and Triple-A last year, Cade Povich continued to impress with a 3.18 ERA and 75 strikeouts in 56.2 innings back at Triple-A before he was promoted to the majors. He has a 6.27 ERA in seven starts, but his numbers are skewed by two poor outings.
-Despite winning Reliever of the Year honors in the 2023 Arizona Fall League, right-hander Emiliano Teodo has continued to be developed as a starter by the Texas Rangers, and he tossed two no-hit innings as the AL starter in the Futures Game. The 23-year-old has a 1.71 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 89 strikeouts in 68.1 innings, though his undersized 6'1", 165-pound frame does still carry some reliever risk.
-Outfielder Jacob Melton hit .360/.424/.671 with 22 doubles, 17 home runs, 83 RBI and 21 steals during a breakout junior year at Oregon State before going in the second round of the 2022 draft. The 23-year-old has a .749 OPS with 19 extra-base hits and 17 steals in 53 games at Double-A and is now the top prospect in a thin Houston system.

-With an imposing 6'6", 235-pound frame and tremendous raw power, Spencer Jones still has huge upside. After a strong 2023 campaign, he is hitting just .237/.317/.403 with a staggering 37.1 percent strikeout rate in 73 games at Double-A, so his stock is trending down right now.
-After a quiet stateside debut last year that was abbreviated due to a torn meniscus in his right knee, Angel Genao is enjoying a breakout season in the Cleveland Guardians system. The 20-year-old switch-hitter is batting .327/.376/.503 with 35 extra-base hits in 74 games, and he has not missed a beat since a midseason promotion to High-A.
-One of the first players from the 2023 draft class to reach the majors, Hurston Waldrep had a 3.09 ERA and 59 strikeouts in 55.1 innings in the upper minors before making his MLB debut on June 9. The 22-year-old was shaky in a pair of big league starts before landing on the injured list with elbow inflammation.

61. SS/3B Brayden Taylor, TB
-After crushing 2023 Arizona Fall League pitching to the tune of a .417/.495/.679 line, James Triantos has continued to rake at Double-A this season, hitting .301/.341/.448 with 27 extra-base hits and 30 steals in 75 games. He might ultimately fit best as a designated hitter, but has seen action in center field for the first time this year.
-The Minnesota Twins have a knack for squeezing the most out of versatile infielders with high offensive floors, and Luke Keaschall is their latest success story. The 2023 second-round pick is hitting .327/.438/.506 with 21 doubles, 11 home runs, 38 RBI and 19 steals in 84 games between High-A and Double-A while splitting his time between second base and center field.
-Brayden Taylor was the No. 19 overall pick in the 2023 draft after a 23-homer junior year at TCU, and while he played primarily third base in college, he is getting semi-regular action at shortstop in pro ball while continuing to flash plus power. The 22-year-old has a .927 OPS with 24 doubles, 13 home runs, 43 RBI and 24 steals in 76 games at High-A.

53. OF Josue De Paula, LAD
52. LHP Quinn Mathews, STL
51. RHP Bubba Chandler, PIT
-One of the breakout pitching prospects of the 2024 season, Brandon Sproat has used his high-octane fastball, plus changeup and slider to post a 1.71 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 85 strikeouts in 73.2 innings between High-A and Double-A. The 2023 second-round pick has quickly emerged as the top arm in the Mets system.
-With a 60-hit, 55-power offensive profile, Josue De Paula has only scratched the surface of his vast upside. The 19-year-old hit .279/.388/.447 with 20 extra-base hits in 55 games at Single-A to open the year, and he was promoted to High-A on June 25.
-A two-sport star in high school who was originally recruited to play quarterback at Clemson, Bubba Chandler looks like the next high-ceiling pitching prospect set to emerge from the Pittsburgh farm system. The 21-year-old has a 3.53 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 77 strikeouts in 63.2 innings at Double-A, and he might be ready to compete for a rotation spot next spring.

-Towering 6'7" teenager Bryce Eldridge was one of the best two-way players in the 2023 draft and a legitimate Day 1 talent on the mound, but he has turned his focus to hitting in pro ball. He has an .825 OPS with 17 doubles, 11 home runs and 55 RBI in 63 games between Single-A and High-A.
-The Miami Marlins used $8.6 million of their $12.8 million bonus pool for the 2023 draft to sign Noble Meyer (12 G, 3.22 ERA, 61 K, 50.1 IP) and Thomas White (14 GS, 3.10 ERA, 81 K, 61.0 IP) who were widely regarded as the top two prep arms in the class. They are climbing the ladder together, having split the season between Single-A and High-A.
-Signed to an above-slot, $1.5 million bonus as an 11th-round pick in the 2022 draft, right-hander Caden Dana has quickly gone from projectable arm with upside to one of the best pitching prospects in the game. The 20-year-old is one of the youngest pitchers at the Double-A level, and he has been dominant with a 2.99 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 97 strikeouts in 90.1 innings.

-Hagen Smith (16 GS, 2.04 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, 161 K, 84.0 IP) and Chase Burns (16 GS, 2.70 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, 191 K, 100.0 IP) were the consensus top two pitchers in the draft after absolutely dominating college hitters all spring, and slotting them side-by-side as they enter the Top 100 rankings feels like a logical starting point. Burns has the higher ceiling, but Smith is the more polished pitcher. Both have top-of-the-rotation upside.
-Of the nine high school shortstops that were taken inside the first 40 picks in the 2023 draft, Colt Emerson is off to the best start to his pro career. In 246 plate appearances since he made his minor league debut, he is hitting .327/.459/.480 with the same number of walks (39) and strikeouts (39), and his hit tool is quickly becoming one of the best in the minors.
-The Philadelphia Phillies bet on exciting raw tools and MLB bloodlines when they took Justin Crawford with the No. 17 overall pick in the 2022 draft, and now he is the team's top overall prospect. The 20-year-old is hitting .301/.349/.438 with 24 extra-base hits and 27 steals in 70 games at High-A and playing a standout defensive center field.

21. OF Lazaro Montes, SEA
-If not for a nagging hamstring injury that limited him to 36 games this spring, JJ Wetherholt might have been the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 draft. He hit .449/.517/.787 with 24 doubles, 16 home runs and 60 RBI in 55 games during his sophomore year at West Virginia in 2023, and his advanced hit tool should allow him to move quickly through the minors.
-After batting .412 while striking out just five times in 217 plate appearances during his junior year at Grand Canyon in 2023, Jacob Wilson has continued to showcase elite contact skills in pro ball. The No. 6 overall pick in last year's draft is hitting .438/.475/.687 in 200 plate appearances across three minor league levels this year, and he is currently playing at Triple-A.
-With a 6'3", 210-pound frame and some of the best raw power in the minors, Lazaro Montes has been flying up top prospect lists all season. The 19-year-old has seen a dip in production since he was promoted to High-A, but he is still hitting .293/.393/.487 with 14 home runs and 78 RBI in 79 games overall.

12. SS Carson Williams, TB
11. 3B Coby Mayo, BAL
-A year after Ethan Salas burst onto the scene, the San Diego Padres are again getting an attention-grabbing pro debut from a highly-touted international prospect. Leodalis De Vries signed for $4.2 million in January and was sent straight to Single-A for his pro debut. The 17-year-old has a .731 OPS with 16 doubles, five home runs, 24 RBI and nine steals in 51 games as one of the youngest players in the California League.
-A thumb injury during spring training and a hamstring injury in June have limited Jordan Lawlar to just 13 games this season or he might be challenging for a regular role on the D-backs roster. The 21-year-old made his MLB debut last year as a September call-up and ended up with a spot on the playoff roster.
-With light-tower power as a first baseman and a triple-digits fastball on the mound, Jac Caglianone is one of the more intriguing two-way prospects to ever come along outside of Shohei Ohtani. He hit .419/.544/.875 with 35 home runs this spring while also posting a 4.76 ERA and 83 strikeouts in 73.2 innings. The Kansas City Royals announced him as a two-way player when he was drafted No. 6 overall on Sunday.

1. OF James Wood, WAS
-The Detroit Tigers have brought Jackson Jobe along slowly since selecting him No. 3 overall in the 2021 draft, and he has logged just 177 innings in his pro career, but his ace-caliber stuff makes him the best pitching prospect in baseball. The 21-year-old has a 1.77 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 48 strikeouts in 35.2 innings this year between High-A and Double-A.
-Charlie Condon (60 G, .433/.556/1.009, 37 HR, 78 RBI) and Travis Bazzana (60 G, .407/.568/.911, 28 HR, 66 RBI) were the consensus top prospects in the 2024 draft class. Condon slugging at Coors Field will be a lot of fun to watch, while Bazzana has the polish to be one of the first players from this class to reach the majors.
-After demolishing Triple-A pitching to the tune of a .353/.463/.595 line with 16 doubles, 10 home runs and 37 RBI in 52 games, James Wood made his MLB debut on July 1. The 6'7", 234-pound slugger has 13 hits, one double, one home run and two steals through his first 14 games, and he does not turn 22 years old until September.
