Sixth Man of the Year proved to be the tightest race. Only 10 points separated the Minnesota Timberwolves' Naz Reid from the Sacramento Kings' Malik Monk.
The margins were also tight for Most Improved Player. Philadelphia 76ers star Tyrese Maxey had 19 more first-place votes than the Chicago Bulls' Coby White, but the gap between them was just 14 points. That can be chalked up to the interpretation of what qualifies as "most improved."
Maxey unquestionably had a better season than White. He averaged 25.9 points and 6.2 assists to 19.1 and 5.1, respectively, for the runner-up. White may have taken a bigger leap from one year to the next, though, with Maxey having already looked like an All-Star in the making.
That's the only way to square Maxey being on 79 Most Improved ballots compared to 91 for White.
