NFL Scout Hypes Jags 7th Rounder Myles Cole: Long as Hell, Big as Hell, Fast as Hell
The seventh round is typically not where you find much value in the NFL draft, but the Jacksonville Jaguars may have done just that this year.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler wrote Monday that Texas Tech's Myles Cole is "a potential late-round gem." Fowler cited a scout for an AFC team who's high on the edge-rusher.
"He's long as hell, big as hell, fast as hell," the scout said. "Change of direction is not great, play wasn't great, but there's a lot to work with."

Cole had 85 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss and five sacks across a six-year college career that included stops at Louisiana-Monroe and Texas Tech. He was the No. 164 overall player and the 17th-best edge on Bleacher Report's big board.
"To put it simply, there aren't many guys who are built like him and move like he can. NFL teams will see those numbers and think they can mold Cole into a quality player, making him draftable," B/R scout Matt Holder wrote in his breakdown.
"Against the run, Cole is already a solid player who just needs to clean up a few fixable technique issues. As a pass-rusher, he's shown a solid rip move and the potential to turn speed to power with a long-arm move if his change of direction can improve. He has the strength to push through the offensive tackle's inside shoulder, and offensive linemen will have a hard time dealing with his arm length."
Given his age (24), Cole doesn't project as the kind of raw talent on whom you take a flier in the seventh round. He may have been under the radar because he started at a school outside of a Power Five conference and then transferred to a program that hasn't often been associated with defense.
Maybe the NFL is where the 6'6", 278-pound defender will truly shine.
