Eagles Rumors: OL Eyed in 2024 NFL Draft After Jason Kelce's Retirement

Andrew PetersApr 11, 2024

Longtime Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce retired this offseason, which could have the team looking for offensive line reinforcements early in the 2024 NFL draft.

According to ESPN's Matt Miller, NFL scouts believe Eagles general manager Howie Roseman might be looking for a right tackle as a potential long-term successor to Lane Johnson.

"I continue to hear in conversations with scouts around the league that general manager Howie Roseman could look to solidify the right tackle position early in this draft—even in Round 1," Miller wrote. "Tyler Guyton has spent time in the predraft process training with current Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson. The Eagles started planning ahead at center before Jason Kelce's retirement, and drafting Guyton—who started just 14 games in college—would allow him to learn and develop under Johnson and famed offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland."

Guyton, who spent his college career between TCU and Oklahoma, is considered to be the No. 32 overall prospect and the No. 5 offensive tackle in this year's draft class by the Bleacher Report NFL Scouting Department. In their latest mock draft, they projected Guyton to land with the Baltimore Ravens with the No. 30 overall pick.

What Guyton lacks in experience, he makes up for with his size and athleticism. He stands at 6'8" and 322 pounds, and he posted a respectable 5.19-second 40-yard dash time along with a 34.5" vertical at the NFL combine.

While Guyton will likely need some time to get acclimated in the NFL, the Eagles boast one of the best offensive line coaches in the league in Stoutland. Philadelphia could be a great place for Guyton to develop.
