Report: Unnamed MCBB Player Requested $1.5M in NIL to Transfer; Yet to Enter Portal
One men's college basketball player has reportedly set his price for any team that wants to pay up for him to transfer.
Per basketball insider Jeff Goodman, the unnamed player's representative told one coach they were seeking more than $1.5 million in name, image and likeness commitments.
Goodman noted the player has not yet entered the transfer portal.

Ever since the NCAA adopted an NIL policy in June 2021, it has essentially created a free agency for athletes in all sports. The Athletic's Sam Vecenie and CJ Moore noted on April 5 there were more than 900 men's Division I basketball players in the transfer portal.
Based on On3.com's NIL valuation rankings, a deal in excess of $1.5 million would rank eighth among all college athletes. It would be sandwiched between Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe ($1.6 million) and Georgia quarterback Carson Beck ($1.5 million).
The only college basketball player, men's or women's, ranked in the top 10 is Bronny James at No. 2 with a $4.5 million valuation.
Amid the explosion of NIL across college sports, the NCAA has been seeking help from Congress to create a national policy.
A subcommittee in the House of Representatives drafted a bill in January after commissioners from the Big Ten, Big 12, Atlantic Coast Conference and Southeastern Conference argued college sports programs across the country could collapse if things stay as they are.
Individual states have adopted their own NIL rules while the wait for a national policy continues.
