NC State forward DJ Burns Jr. isn't planning on switching sports despite rumored NFL interest.

Burns told reporters on Thursday that there he has "zero" desire to play football after the team's current March Madness run concludes, according to the Associated Press (h/t ESPN).

Fox Sports' Peter Schrager revealed on Monday that he spoke to several NFL scouts and general managers regarding Burns as a potential offensive tackle prospect, as the 23-year-old is listed at 6'9" and 275 pounds.

While he may not be interested in pursuing an NFL career, Burns' physical play in the paint has helped the Wolfpack earn a Final Four appearance for the first time since 1983. In four March Madness games, the senior is averaging 18.3 points and 5.0 rebounds per game while shooting 67.4 percent from the field.

His footwork in the post and his soft touch around the basket combined with his ability to consistently find open teammates when he receives extra defensive attention have made him difficult to stop, although that may not translate onto the field.

NC State head coach Kevin Keatts revealed that he hasn't received any calls about Burns transitioning to football and believes that his personality is suited for basketball instead.

"No way he's going to play football," Keatts said (via the Associated Press). "I mean, listen, he's got a great touch. He's not that bully that you guys think. You spent some time with him? He's a teddy bear off the court."

With the prospect of playing in the NFL seemingly in the rearview mirror, Burns will turn his full attention towards a tough matchup against No. 1 seed Purdue with a spot in the title game up for grabs.

He'll likely see some time matched up against Boilermakers center Zach Edey, as the 7'4" big is averaging 2.2 blocks per game. Tip-off between the two teams is at 6:09 p.m. ET on Saturday.
