NFL Draft 2024 Rumors: Commanders Not 'Wowed' by Trade Calls amid Jayden Daniels Buzz
The Washington Commanders haven't been convinced by what's on offer to move off their present position in the 2024 NFL draft, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
"They've made calls but there haven't been any sort of offers that have wowed Washington enough to move from that No. 2 spot," Fowler reported on SportsCenter. "So, right now they're standing pat. I checked with somebody with the team who said that they have not made any firm plans yet as to what they're doing with that second overall pick."
Fowler added "there's a little Jayden Daniels buzz right now but nothing firm as to what they're going to do" but that Washington hasn't narrowed its focus to only one of the quarterback prospects available.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮
Midway through the NFL annual meeting, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported the Commanders and New England Patriots were both "apprehensive" to trading back, so it appears little has changed for the former.
For much of the draft cycle, LSU's Daniels and North Carolina's Drake Maye were frequently linked with Washington. Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy has been gaining steam of late, though Fowler's report pointed back to the conventional wisdom.
The Chicago Bears will almost certainly stand pat at No. 1 overall after having traded Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo reflected how there's far less outside confidence with the Commanders' approach.
"I don't think anyone in here really knows what Washington's going to do," he told reporters. "And when you see these other teams making moves, acquiring pieces to move, we could sit here and say Washington today, [then] that could be someone else on draft day."
As a true wild card, the Commanders are in an advantageous position. They could have their pick of the best quarterbacks after USC's Caleb Williams. The perceived gap between Daniels/Maye and McCarthy could instead entice another team to eventually meet Washington's asking price in a trade, something that clearly hasn't happened to this point.
