Lakers' Reaves on 2OT Win vs. Giannis, Bucks: 'The Stuff You Dream About as a Kid'
On the heels of arguably the best game of his career, Austin Reaves was very happy after the Los Angeles Lakers' 128-124 double-overtime win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday night.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Reaves said that type of game "is the stuff you dream about as a kid, being on the road with your guys, battling out an amazing team and having opportunities to make big shots."
The Lakers were playing without LeBron James, who was ruled out earlier in the day due to an ankle injury. It looked like they were in trouble early when the Bucks jumped out to an 18-point lead in the first quarter.
Milwaukee got the lead up to 19 at 94-75 with less than eight minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. The Lakers went on a 26-7 run to finish the quarter and force overtime.
Reaves had a chance to win the game in regulation with a wide-open three from way behind the arc, but the ball hit off the back of the rim. He scored nine points in the two overtime periods to help the Lakers steal a win over Milwaukee.
The 25-year-old finished with a triple-double of 29 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists in 48 minutes. It was just the second triple-double of his career and first since his rookie season in 2021-22.
Anthony Davis chipped in with 34 points and 23 rebounds in 52 minutes. This was his second game with at least 25 points and 20 rebounds in 16 days. He racked up 27 points and 25 rebounds in a 120-109 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves on March 10.
The Lakers appear to have hit their stride with four consecutive wins. Their 40-32 record is 2.5 games clear of the Golden State Warriors for the No. 9 seed in the Western Conference. They are only two games behind the Sacramento Kings and Phoenix Suns in the seventh and eighth spots.
