Dan Quinn: 'Fair to Envision' Commanders Taking QB in Draft amid Jayden Daniels Buzz
Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said it's "fair to envision" the team selecting a quarterback with the second pick in the 2024 NFL draft, per NFL.com's Tom Pelissero.
"I would say it'd be fair to envision we'd be taking a quarterback," Quinn said. "To say where it'll be happening, I think that's a better question for (general manager) Adam (Peters).
"As the next weeks unfold, there'll be a lot of discussion, and that's why we've had a great trip out seeing some guys, we'll do that some more in the weeks ahead, but I've enjoyed that process with Adam, and going through it. He's somebody that is an absolute expert at this position, what it looks like, where to go, and so going through that process has been really cool."

Offseason Trade Block Big Board After NFL Draft 🏈
The Commanders traded 2023 starter Sam Howell to the Seattle Seahawks recently, setting the stage for them to draft a quarterback. With the No. 2 pick, Washington could land an elite talent.
Bleacher Report's Scouting Department lists North Carolina's Drake Maye, USC's Caleb Williams and LSU's Jayden Daniels as the top three quarterbacks in this year's class. It is expected the Chicago Bears, who hold the top pick, will take Williams, which would leave Washington with several viable options.
B/R's Scouting Department projects the Commanders will draft Maye with the second pick, though Daniels has been heavily linked to Washington since the scouting combine.
Should the Commanders take a quarterback, they have the funds to build a solid roster around him, leading the league in available cap space, per Spotrac.
Washington is coming off a 4-13 season that saw it miss the playoffs for a third straight year, which led to the firing of head coach Ron Rivera. Quinn, who spent the last three seasons as the Dallas Cowboys' defensive coordinator, was hired in February.
With a new head coach and a franchise quarterback seemingly on the way, the Commanders are entering a new era that they hope will lead to a turnaround in Washington.
