Quandre Diggs Denies He Won't Return to Seahawks in 2024 NFL Free Agency

Timothy RappMar 19, 2024

Free agent safety Quandre Diggs denied a report on social media Wednesday that he's ruled out a return to the Seattle Seahawks.

Diggs, 31, was released by the Seattle Seahawks this offseason alongside veteran safety Jamal Adams as the team appeared set to restructure the defensive backfield around Pro Bowl safety Julian Love.

The Seahawks bolstered the defensive back position on Tuesday, signing veteran K'Von Wallace to a one-year deal, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. Seattle also signed safety Rayshawn Jenkins last week, and this year's draft has solid depth at safety.

So any chances Diggs might have had returning to Seattle on a cheaper deal now feel extinguished, though whether his potential replacements can offer the same level of impact as he did in recent years remains to be seen.

He was excellent for Seattle in parts of five seasons, earning three Pro Bowl bids with the team while playing in every game across the past four seasons. He notched 18 interceptions, one defensive touchdown, 324 tackles (three four loss), two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery with the Seahawks.

Releasing him cleared $11 million in cap for the team, however, providing them more financial flexibility they used to re-sign defensive tackle Leonard Williams and tight end Noah Fant and cornerback Artie Burns while adding free agents like linebacker Jerome Baker and Jenkins, among others.

He offered the following response after his release:

There should still be a market for Diggs on a short-term deal, and a few current and former players around the NFL have already started publicly recruiting him.

So Diggs should eventually land himself a team. But all false reporting aside, it appears unlikely to be back in Seattle.
