Arch Manning Reacts to Texas' Historic 20-Point Comeback, Recalls 'Nightmares' from 2025 OSU Loss

Texas quarterback Arch Manning gave his thoughts on the No. 5 Longhorns' 24-23 comeback victory over No. 1 Ohio State on Saturday night.

"I'm just so proud of our guys, all three phases," Manning told ESPN's Laura Rutledge after the win (h/t ESPN's Pete Thamel). "It wasn't very pretty, but we found a way to win. That's what good teams do."

The Longhorns erased a 20-point deficit before emerging victorious in the fourth quarter.

It marked the first meeting between Texas and Ohio State since Aug. 2025, as the Buckeyes previously won by the final score of 14-7.

"We couldn't lose to them again," Manning said (0:31 mark). "I had nightmares about that game last year. So, I'm glad to get a win tonight."

The Longhorns similarly struggled against the Buckeyes' defense on Saturday, as they were only able to muster three points through three quarters and trailed 23-3 heading into the fourth.

Texas finally started to gain momentum early in the final quarter with a short touchdown pass from Manning to Ryan Wingo.

The Longhorns' defense subsequently forced an Ohio State punt before their offense followed it up with a 13-play, 72-yard drive that ended with a one-yard touchdown run by Hollywood Smothers.

The Buckeyes looked to take a two-score lead on their next possession, but a 45-yard field goal attempt missed.

Texas' offense stayed hot, driving 73 yards down the field before taking their first lead of the game with another short score from Smothers as just under 30 seconds remained in the fourth quarter.

Time expired during Ohio State's last drive, sealing the final result.

Manning went 23-of-37 for 195 yards and one touchdown compared to one interception. He also rushed for 24 yards.

As Manning navigates through his second season as a full-time starter, Texas improved to 2-0 with the statement win.
