NFL Trade Rumors: Morgan Moses Dealt to Jets from Ravens; 2024 Draft Picks Swapped

Joseph ZuckerMar 13, 2024

The New York Jets are acquiring offensive tackle Morgan Moses from the Baltimore Ravens, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Schefter reported the teams are swapping fourth-round picks as part of the deal. The Jets are getting the No. 134 overall selection in return for the No. 112 pick and a sixth-rounder.

The Ravens had a financial incentive to move on from Moses. They save $5.5 million against the 2024 salary cap while absorbing $1.4 million in dead money. Lowering the team's cap burden appears to have been a broad goal for general manager Eric DeCosta.

Baltimore's offensive line will look a lot different as a result. In addition to Stanley, the team lost offensive guard John Simpson to free agency and Kevin Zeitler remains unsigned. Left tackle Ronnie Stanley and center Tyler Linderbaum are the only starters still on the books.

For the Jets, upgrading the offensive line was a top priority after a disastrous season.

Aaron Rodgers' Achilles injury doomed New York almost from the start, but the pass protection would've been terrible even if the surefire Hall of Famer was on the field for all 17 games.

Moses is an immediate upgrade at right tackle whose past experience in the Big Apple is an added bonus. He spent the 2021 season with the Jets and appeared in every game for the team.

Certainly with the benefit of hindsight, watching Moses sign with the Ravens in 2022 was a mistake by New York. General manager Joe Douglas finally corrected the error.
