Sauce Jokes About Aaron Rodgers Rumors: 'That's Why He Ain't Been Answering My' Texts
Amid rumors of New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers potentially being recruited to be part of a presidential ticket, cornerback Sauce Gardner cracked a joke Tuesday about being unable to get ahold of the veteran signal-caller.
Rebecca Davis O'Brien of the New York Times reported Tuesday that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has expressed interest in two unique names potentially being his running mate when he runs as an independent in the 2024 presidential election.
RFK Jr. is reportedly targeting both Rodgers and WWE Hall of Famer Jesse Ventura, who went on to serve as governor of Minnesota from 1999 to 2003.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮
Per Davis O'Brien, Kennedy has been "pretty continuously" in contact with Rodgers, and Rodgers has "welcomed the overtures."
Rodgers has never served in public office, but he has been outspoken on several political issues, including his stance against the COVID-19 vaccine.
Given Rodgers' free time apparently being taken up by his conversations with Kennedy, Gardner took to X on Tuesday to declare that he had figured out why Rodgers wasn't texting him back:
Gardner, 23, has established himself as one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL over his first two seasons, earning two Pro Bowl nods and two First Team All-Pro selections, while also winning the 2022 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Award.
There was hope from Jets and football fans as a whole that he would get the chance to shine under a greater spotlight last season with the arrival of Rodgers, but that did not come to fruition.
The future Hall of Fame quarterback and four-time NFL MVP suffered a season-ending Achilles tear on the Jets' first offensive series of the 2023 campaign.
That resulted in Zach Wilson starting most of the season at quarterback with Tim Boyle and Trevor Siemian taking over in the latter weeks. New York went on to finish 7-10, missing the playoffs for a 13th consecutive season.
Potential vice presidential aspirations notwithstanding, Rodgers is expected to return to a starting role for the Jets in 2024.
Optimism is once again abound in the Big Apple because of Rodgers, but given that he is 40 and coming off one of the most significant injuries in football, it is fair to wonder if he will be anything close to the player he was during his time with the Green Bay Packers.
