Micah Hyde, Gabe Davis, Bills Free Agents' Projected Contracts

Joe TanseyMar 6, 2024

The Buffalo Bills could lose a few members of the core that achieved success over the last few seasons.

Buffalo is currently $40 million over the salary cap, per Spotrac, and that could lead to Micah Hyde, Gabe Davis and Leonard Floyd signing for big money elsewhere.

The Bills could restructure some deals and cut players to become cap compliant, but that still may not help them compete on the free-agent market for Hyde and Co.

Hyde is one of the most experienced safeties on the free-agent market, Davis can be a valuable No. 2 wide receiver and Floyd can add more aggressiveness to a team's pass rush.

Buffalo could retain one of the three free agents, but it feels more than likely that it will lose multiple free agents to big contracts.

Micah Hyde

Micah Hyde presents an interesting case for any team looking to sign him.

The 33-year-old safety has been an integral part of the Buffalo defense since 2017, but his age and injury history could cost him a large pay day.

Kyle Dugger, Xavier McKinney and Geno Stone are among the younger top free agents at safety who should command large salaries.

Hyde could still be worth a few million to certain teams and that may price the Bills out of his signature.

The Bills could work with Hyde to bring him back on a team-friendly deal because of how much he's meant to the team, but there could be a few teams out there who value Hyde's experience more.

Projection: Two years, $10 million

Gabe Davis

Gabe Davis should receive a hefty pay increase somewhere else.

Davis quietly put up 746 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in Stefon Diggs' shadow in 2024.

Davis did not have as many huge performances as Diggs, but he was reliable in certain spots for the Bills and he recorded his second-straight season with at least 700 receiving yards.

Most NFL teams would gladly sign a No. 2 wide receiver coming off two solid seasons in which he also scored 14 touchdowns.

Teams with young quarterbacks, like the Chicago Bears and Carolina Panthers, should be all over Davis in free agency.

The market should be large enough for Davis that he signs a multi-year deal somewhere else and Buffalo does not come close to matching the price tag.

Projection: Four years, $50 million

Leonard Floyd

Leonard Floyd has been a sack machine over the last four seasons.

Floyd recorded 10.5 sacks with the Bills in 2023 to keep up a run of four years with at least nine sacks that began with the Los Angeles Rams in 2020.

Floyd's sack totals should make him a decent amount of money in free agency, and just like Davis, the Bills may be priced out of his market.

Buffalo is probably better suited signing veteran players on cheap deals, or relying on the 2024 NFL draft for replacements of its impending free agents.

Floyd should command a multi-year deal because of how consistent he has been in the pass rush with both the Rams and Bills.

Projection: Three years, $20 million
