Woj: Kyle Lowry Joining 76ers is 'Dream Come True' for PG After New Contract
Kyle Lowry is living the dream.
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported the point guard completed a contract buyout with the Charlotte Hornets, which cleared the way for him to join the Philadelphia 76ers.
Wojnarowski noted joining the 76ers is a "dream come true" for the veteran, who is from Philadelphia and played collegiately at Villanova:
Lowry never ended up playing a game for the Hornets, who acquired him from the Miami Heat via trade. Miami ended up with Terry Rozier, who could help Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo compete for another NBA Finals run in the Eastern Conference.
But Miami might run into Lowry and the 76ers in the postseason, especially if Joel Embiid returns to health from his knee injury.
Lowry isn't the same player he was at his peak, but he has a championship on his resume and has played in 130 playoff games in his career. He will provide veteran leadership for a Philadelphia franchise that is trying to get past the second round for the first time since Allen Iverson paved the way to the 2001 NBA Finals.
Lifting a Larry O'Brien Trophy would only add to the dream.
