Warriors Rumors: Cory Joseph Traded to Pacers for Draft Pick; Guard Will Be Waived
The Golden State Warriors have traded guard Cory Joseph and cash to the Indiana Pacers for a second-round draft pick, per Shams Charania of Stadium and The Athletic.
Pacers beat writer Tony East offered more specifics:
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Joseph will be waived by the Pacers.
The 32-year-old Joseph, a 13-year NBA veteran, has averaged 2.4 points on 35.9 percent shooting (31.0 percent from three) and 1.6 assists in 11.4 minutes per game. The ex-Texas star has played in 26 games, all off the bench.
Warriors Talk offered more insight on the move from the Dubs' perspective:
The Joseph trade marked the only move the Warriors made before the 3 p.m. ET deadline despite entering the day 11th in the Western Conference with a 23-25 record.
The Warriors feel they can make a run with their current core intact, as noted by head coach Steve Kerr on Wednesday.
The Warriors did have talks about acquiring talent, notably Chicago Bulls guard Alex Caruso and Detroit Pistons wing Bojan Bogdanovic, who is now a member of the New York Knicks.
Ultimately, the Warriors decided to roll with their current squad.
As for the Pacers, they made multiple moves to shore up for a playoff run after previously landing Pascal Siakam in a blockbuster in January.
Indiana dealt Buddy Hield to the Philadelphia 76ers for Marcus Morris, Furkan Korkmaz and three second-rounders, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Pacers then flipped Morris, a second-round pick and cash to the San Antonio Spurs for Doug McDermott, per Shams Charania of Stadium and The Athletic. Korkmaz will be waived, per Wojnarowski.
Indiana entered Thursday with a 29-23, good enough for sixth place in the East.
