NBA Trade Rumors: Jazz's Kelly Olynyk Interests Warriors, 76ers, Heat at Deadline
At least four NBA teams have shown interest in trading for Utah Jazz big man Kelly Olynyk, per Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports:
"Philadelphia, Miami and Golden State also have shown interest in Olynyk, according to league sources. Boston had also been interested in reuniting with the big man it drafted out of Gonzaga, sources said, but the Celtics trading for Memphis' Xavier Tillman will likely rule out Boston for Olynyk."
Olynyk, 32, has averaged 8.1 points on 56.2 percent shooting (42.9 percent from three), 5.1 rebounds and 4.4 assists in 20.2 minutes over 50 games (eight starts) for Utah this season.
As Fischer noted, the Philadelphia 76ers, Miami Heat and Golden State Warriors are in the mix for Olynyk, with the Boston Celtics likely now out of the picture after acquiring Xavier Tillman from the Memphis Grizzlies.
It's easy to see why the three former teams would be interested in Olynyk.
The 76ers need more help in the frontcourt after losing reigning NBA MVP Joel Embiid for an undetermined period of time following left meniscus surgery, and Olynyk could help stem the tide until he returns.
Matt Moore of The Action Network previously reported on Miami's interest in Olynyk, who played for the Heat from 2017-2021. Olynyk would presumably slide into the rotation as a backup to star big man Bam Adebayo and provide further depth at the 4 as well.
The Warriors should be up for nearly anything after starting this year 22-25, which puts the team on the outside looking into the Western Conference play-in picture. As a three-point shooting big, Olynyk should fit well on the Warriors, helping space the floor when called upon.
Olynyk is also an impending free agent, perhaps making him a more attractive big man to trade for with Thursday's 3 p.m. ET deadline rapidly approaching.
Ultimately, it won't be a surprise whatsoever to see Olynyk on the move in short order.
