With 48 teams in this edition of the event, there will be more games than in past years. One of those games will be the bronze-medal match, which will take place in Miami's Hard Rock Stadium.
The United States men's national team will hope to be playing in those later rounds, and it begins its World Cup journey on June 12 in Los Angeles. The squad plays another match in Seattle on June 19 before finishing the group stage back in Los Angeles on June 25.
Here is a look at some of the key information from Sunday's reveal:
The 2026 World Cup will have a unique twist because it is being hosted by three North American nations in the United States, Canada and Mexico. As Joe Wright of Sporting News noted, 60 of the 80 games will take place in the United States, with 10 being held in Canada and 10 in Mexico.
Mexico will become the first country to host three men's World Cups after previously doing so in 1970 and 1986. The United States, which hosted in 1994, will join Mexico, Brazil, Italy, France and Germany as nations that have hosted the event multiple times.
FIFA had already selected 16 total host venues prior to the additional details that were provided Sunday, per Wright:
- AT&T Stadium in Dallas
- MetLife Stadium in New York City
- Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City
- NRG Stadium in Houston
- Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta
- SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles
- Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia
- Lumen Field in Seattle
- Levi's Stadium in San Francisco
- Gillette Stadium in Boston
- Hard Rock Stadium in Miami

The 2026 men's World Cup follows the 2022 one, which was held in Qatar.
The final was one of the most thrilling soccer matches in recent history with Lionel Messi and Argentina prevailing over Kylian Mbappe in penalties following a back-and-forth battle. Messi and Ángel Di María each scored in the first half to put their side up 2-0, but Mbappe answered with back-to-back goals late in the second half to force extra time.
Fittingly, both Mbappe and Messi scored in extra time before Argentina won 4-2 on penalties.
It was the crowning moment in Messi's legendary career, but there are sure to be unforgettable games and legacy-defining developments in the 2026 men's World Cup as well.
And now the soccer world knows where those events will happen.
