NBA Trade Rumors: Knicks, Blazers Haven't Had 'Significant' Malcolm Brogdon Talks
If the New York Knicks want to acquire Malcolm Brogdon ahead of the Feb. 8 trade deadline, they are taking their time right now.
Per SNY.tv's Ian Begley, the Knicks and Portland Trail Blazers haven't had a "significant discussion" about Brogdon as of late last week.
Per Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times, the Los Angeles Lakers have had talks about Brogdon. Brett Siegel of Clutch Points added the Philadelphia 76ers and Orlando Magic also have interest in the 31-year-old.
Having already made a move for OG Anunoby, the Knicks don't appear to be done leading up to the deadline. They're among the teams that have been connected to Bruce Brown after he was traded to the Toronto Raptors in the Pascal Siakam deal with the Indiana Pacers.
HoopsHype's Michael Scotto reported last week the Knicks were also looking at Terry Rozier and Alec Burks.
Rozier came off the board on Tuesday when the Charlotte Hornets traded him to the Miami Heat for Kyle Lowry and a 2027 first-round draft pick, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Burks played two seasons for the Knicks from 2020 to '22 before being traded to the Detroit Pistons.
If the Knicks are also focused on keeping their cap space open this summer to potentially make a play for a marquee superstar in a trade, Burks might be a more attractive trade target than Brogdon.
Burks is playing on a $10.5 million expiring contract. Brogdon is signed through next season with a $22.5 million salary in 2024-25, though that's not a massive salary to move if the Knicks were to acquire him in the next two weeks and want to explore their options this summer.
Brogdon is averaging 15.5 points on 42.0 percent three-point shooting and 5.3 assists per game this season.
The Knicks have won three straight games and own the fifth-best record in the Eastern Conference at 26-17 overall. They rank in the top 10 in both offensive and defensive rating this season.
