76ers' Joel Embiid Recreates Iconic Wilt Chamberlain Photo After Record 70-Point Game
After a historic 70-point performance against the San Antonio Spurs on Monday night, Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid paid homage to one of the most iconic photos in sports history.
The reigning NBA MVP recreated Wilt Chamberlain's photo from his 100-point game against the New York Knicks.

When Chamberlain dropped 100 against the Knicks on March 2, 1962, the moment was captured on film when he held up a piece of paper with "100" written on it.
Embiid set a Sixers franchise record with 70 points, breaking the previous record of 68 set by Chamberlain in December 1967. He hit the benchmark by going 24-of-41 from the field and 21-of-23 from the free-throw line.
Coming off an MVP season in 2022-23, Embiid has played even better this season. The six-time All-Star is averaging a career-high and NBA-best 36.1 points per game. He's scored at least 30 points in 21 consecutive games.
The 29-year-old joined Michael Jordan as the only players with at least 65 points, 15 rebounds and five assists in a single game.
The only other players in NBA history to score 30 points in at least 20 games are Chamberlain, who did it four different times, and James Harden during the 2018-19 season (32 games).
Embiid is the ninth player in league history to score at least 70 points in a game. He's the first player to do it since Damian Lillard dropped 71 for the Portland Trail Blazers in a win over the Houston Rockets on Feb. 26, 2023.
The scoring barrage could easily continue for Embiid on Thursday when the Sixers play the Indiana Pacers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Indiana's defense ranks in the bottom five in the NBA in points allowed per game and rating.
