5-Star QB George MacIntyre Commits to Tennessee Over Alabama
George MacIntyre is staying home and has committed to Tennessee, the quarterback announced Monday.
MacIntyre, who plays for Brentwood Academy in Brentwood, Tennessee, is considered to be the No. 15 overall player in the Class of 2025, the No. 3 quarterback and the No. 1 player in the state of Tennessee, according to 247Sports composite.

MacIntyre picked Josh Heupel and the Vols over Alabama, Auburn, Clemson and a handful of other programs.
"I love this state, the fanbase, the coaches," MacIntyre said. "And I'll be staying at the University of Tennessee."
With MacIntyre's commitment, Tennessee has the No. 9 composite rank for the Class of 2025, per 247Sports composite. MacIntyre will be teaming up with 4-star tight end commit Jack VanDorselaer, who is the No. 11 tight end in the Class of 2025, along with a handful of offensive weapons already on Tennessee's roster.
MacIntyre's commitment follows what has been a successful string of quarterback commitments for the Vols. Tennessee landed the No. 2 quarterback in the Class of 2023 in Nico Iamaleava before picking up the No. 10 quarterback in the Class of 2024 in Jake Merklinger. It's safe to say Heupel and the Vols will be comfortable in the quarterback department for the next few seasons.
Iamaleava saw limited action this season playing behind Joe Milton, but showed promise when he did get reps. He was the starter in Tennessee's rout of Iowa in the Citrus Bowl with Milton opting out and he made the most of it with 151 passing yards and four total touchdowns.
With MacIntyre in the mix in 2025, he will likely be playing behind Iamaleava his freshman season — just as Iamaleava did with Milton in 2023.
Tennessee is coming off a 9-4 season capped off by a Citrus Bowl victory. The Vols certainly took a step back from the 2022 season where they won 11 games behind Heisman candidate Hendon Hooker, but they continued to show growth in the Heupel era, which began in 2021 after Jeremy Pruitt's exit.
Now with promising quarterbacks on the roster for the next few seasons, Tennessee is looking to continue its trend upward.
