Bills' Tyler Bass Deactivates Social Media Accounts After Missed FG in Loss to Chiefs
It's been a difficult 24 hours for Buffalo Bills kicker Tyler Bass.
With 1:47 left in the Bills' AFC Divisional Round game against the Kansas City Chiefs, he had a chance to tie the score at 27 with a 44-yard field goal. The kick sailed wide right, which allowed the Super Bowl champions to escape with the victory and eliminate Buffalo from the playoffs.
This was the third consecutive season that the Bills had lost in the divisional round, and Bass was the target of fan backlash as a result of the miss. This likely contributed to his decision to deactivate his social media accounts, something that was noticed on Monday:

Immediately following the game, Bass took full responsibility for the miss and said the rest of the execution on the play was correct.
"Ultimately, it's completely on me. I've got to do a better job of getting through to my target," he said, per Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com. "I've got to do a better job of playing it a little bit more left when you have a left-to-right [wind]. I've been here long enough to know that you have to do that. You know, I was trusting my line that I had in warmups. Hit a good ball, but it didn't work out. I feel terrible, you know? I love this team and it hurts. This one hurts bad. Yeah, I've got to do a better job. Totally on me."
Bass had an 82.8 percent success rate on field goals during the regular season, including going 4-of-6 from 40-49 yards. He had notably made a 27-yard field goal earlier in the game, but had missed a 27-yarder and had a 49-yard field goal blocked in the Wild Card Round matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
While a successful field goal would have kept Buffalo's hopes alive, the defense would still have needed to hold off Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense with more than 90 seconds remaining on the clock.
Still, the miss represented another squandered opportunity or this talented Bills team, and the pressure will be on them in 2024 to finally get over the hump.
