Warriors Rumors: 'Little Indication' of Moses Moody, Jonathan Kuminga Being Traded
The Golden State Warriors are believed to be interested in acquiring more talent to improve their roster before the NBA trade deadline, but they reportedly don't plan on moving two of their promising young players to land a star.
According to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, the Warriors have "shown little indication" that they would be willing to part ways with forward Jonathan Kuminga or guard Moses Moody.
Kuminga and Moody are the two of the youngest members of Golden State's core, which is led by aging veterans Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson. Chris Paul was also a key member of the team's rotation before he suffered a fractured hand earlier this month that required surgery and ruled him out for the foreseeable future.
Kuminga's production has taken a leap, as he was given more playing time when Green was serving his suspension. The 21-year-old has appeared in 39 games with 15 starts, and he's averaging career highs of 13.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 23.1 minutes per game. His scoring average ranks him as the third-leading scorer on the Warriors behind Curry and Thompson.
Moody has also seen more playing time than he ever has, averaging career highs of 8.7 points, 3.1 rebounds and 18.0 minutes in his 34 appearances with four starts. The 21-year-old has had some impressive performances recently in the absence of Paul, scoring 21 points in each of the last two games.
At 18-22, the Warriors sit in last place in the Pacific Division. Golden State has lost four of its last five games, and there isn't much to inspire confidence that the team will turn things around any time soon. Holding onto the team's young assets will likely hinder the ability to make roster improvements this season.
The Warriors will be back in action on Friday when they host the Dallas Mavericks (24-17).
