NBA All-Star Game 2024: LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo Lead 2nd Voting Results
LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo are one step closer to adding another All-Star Game appearance to their resumes.
The Los Angeles Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks stars are the leading vote-getters for their respective conferences in the latest round of updates from the NBA.
The same pair led the first All-Star voting update, which was released last Thursday.
The NBA announced this season's voting will run through Saturday, Jan. 20, with fans accounting for 50 percent of the vote and current players and media accounting for 25 percent each.
While there will be another voting update next Thursday, the starters will be officially revealed on Jan. 25 on TNT's NBA Tip-Off. The reserves, which are chosen by the league's coaches, will then be announced on Feb. 1 on TNT's NBA Tip-Off.
Tradition will be back under the spotlight for this year's All-Star Game, as it will once again pit the Eastern Conference's best against the Western Conference's best. While that is how the game has been played for much of the NBA's history, recent years have seen the top vote-getters serve as captains and draft their teams regardless of conference affiliation.
While players such as James, Antetokounmpo, Stephen Curry and others are no strangers to leading in All-Star votes and playing in these games, one name does stand out this year.
Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton is the leading vote-getter for the Eastern Conference backcourt, which is both a testament to his excellent play this season and a welcome sign for Pacers fans considering this year's All-Star Game will take place in Indiana's Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Sunday, Feb. 18.
Haliburton figures to be something of a de-facto host and consistently under the spotlight with the game taking place in his home arena.
It also wouldn't be a surprise to see him dish out a triple-double considering he is averaging 23.6 points, a league-best 12.5 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game while shooting 49.7 percent from the field and 40.3 percent from deep for a Pacers team that is in fourth place in the East.
While he is currently sidelined by a hamstring injury, he is expected to be back by the All-Star Game to play in front of the fans who are voting him into the starting lineup.
