Windhorst: Lakers 'Don't Have Guys Who Have High Value' amid NBA Trade Rumors
The Los Angeles Lakers are believed to be interested in making some roster changes ahead of this season's trade deadline, but it doesn't sound like teams around the league are interested in what they have to offer.
ESPN's Brian Windhorst explained on Tuesday's episode of NBA Today that it appears the Lakers don't have assets that would be enticing to other teams, especially when there are other stars available on the trade market:
"There's a lot of teams interested in calling the [Toronto Raptors] for Pascal Siakam. There's no teams interested in calling the Lakers for the players that they want to trade. ... The Lakers have to go through this homestand and figure out whether they're gonna do something, but even if they want to, they don't have guys who have high value right now like the Raptors have had over the past few months. I don't even know if it's comparable."
Windhorst mentioned Austin Reaves as a player who would generate interest from around the NBA, but he noted that Los Angeles is unlikely to part ways with the rising star guard.
At 18-19, the Lakers sit in 10th place in the Western Conference. Los Angeles has lost 10 of its 14 games since winning the In-Season Tournament championship, as chemistry issues and defensive woes have slowed the team down after its hot start.
The Lakers snapped a four-game losing streak with Sunday's win over the Los Angeles Clippers, so LeBron James hopes it will help the team build some momentum.
"Try to use this to try to catapult a little bit better play from us," LeBron James said after Sunday's win. "But it still doesn't take away from the fact of how we've been playing like the last 11, 12 games. Tonight was a good start. Hopefully we can start from here and continue to build."
The Lakers will be back in action against the Raptors on Tuesday night.
