Warriors' Steve Kerr: 'Good Vibe' to Have Draymond Green Reinstated from Suspension
After Draymond Green's reinstatement from his 12-game suspension, it sounds like the morale of the Golden State Warriors has improved.
"Everybody is excited to see him," Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said of Green prior to Sunday's game against the Toronto Raptors, per ESPN's Kendra Andrews. "He's one of our leaders and he's happy to be back. So it's a good vibe."
Green, who was reinstated by the NBA on Saturday following his indefinite suspension for striking Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic, participated in Golden State's walk-through prior to Sunday's game after returning to the facilities for the first time since the ban.
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Green is expected to need one week to ramp up before returning to game action. Andrews noted that he was on the bench during Sunday's game and involved in huddles during timeouts.
"He'll work with [trainer] Rick [Celebrini] every day," Kerr said Sunday. "Get lots of shots up, scrimmage, but I have no idea when all of that will be."
The Warriors entered Sunday's game with a 17-18 record after going 7-5 in games Green missed. His absence created more playing time for youngsters like forward Jonathan Kuminga and rookie guard Brandin Podziemski, and that experience should help them in the long run as Golden State tries to climb up the standings.
The weeklong ramp-up period puts Green in line to potentially return for Golden State's back-to-back set against the Chicago Bulls on Friday and the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday. If he doesn't make it back by then, his next opportunity would come next Monday against the Memphis Grizzlies.
