2012 NBA All-Star Ballot: Metta World Peace and Other Ballot Mistakes
The 2012 NBA All-Star ballot was released today and RealGM’s staff has a full list of players that you can vote for up on their website.
There are a ridiculous amount of players on there, and only the most insane and zealous fans of a team would vote for some of these guys.
Let’s take a look
Bad Calls
Joel Anthony, Miami Heat
Are you kidding me?
Joel Anthony was the biggest problem the Heat had last year and they spent a summer trying to find an upgrade at the position.
They signed Eddy Curry for God's sake and are trying to get some minutes out of him to get this big scrub off of the floor.
Anthony Morrow, New Jersey Nets
The Nets used a first-round pick on star scorer MarShon Brooks so that they could have a complete shooting guard in their lineup.
Morrow is nothing but a three-point bomber and has little other use on a basketball court.
He deserves to be at All-Star Weekend as a member of the three-point contest and nothing more.
Metta World Peace, Los Angeles Lakers
The only way the player formerly known as Ron Artest gets into the West’s lineup is if voters are as crazy as he is.
The man averages 25 minutes a night and is shooting 12.5 percent from beyond the arc while contributing just 2.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists from the swingman position.
To put him on the All-Star team would be inane.
Snubs
Iman Shumpert, New York Knicks
The Knicks’ rookie guard could end up seeing a lot of floor time and has the potential to be a key component to a very good team.
Instead of putting fringe veterans in who barely crack a rotation anymore and are surviving off name value, the ballot should have included young guys like Shumpert who have a ton of upside, especially those on big-market teams.
Udonis Haslem, Miami Heat
Udonis is a big part of the success of the Heat and provides interior toughness, rebounding and low-post scoring.
The fact that Joel Anthony was included over him is ridiculous.
Haslem is pulling down 10 rebounds a game right now and chipping in six points on 33 percent shooting a night. That field-goal percentage is certain to go up and he will look better as the season goes on. It was stupid not to include him with the Big Three down in South Beach.
