WWE Money in the Bank 2024 Announced for July 6 at Toronto's Scotiabank Arena
WWE head of creative Triple H announced Thursday that the Money in the Bank premium live event will take place in Toronto this summer.
Triple H revealed that Money in the Bank will emanate from Toronto's Scotiabank Center on July 6. It will be sandwiched in between SmackDown on July 5 and NXT Heatwave on July 7, both of which will be held at Scotiabank Arena as well.
Regarding the decision to bring MITB and its surrounding events to Canada's biggest city, Triple H said: "Toronto is an amazing city with a passion for sports entertainment. We're excited to bring Money in the Bank to Canada for the first time, as we continue to lock down the most globally focused schedule in company history."
As Triple H alluded to, WWE has made holding premium live events outside the continental United States a clear and obvious priority dating back to last year.
In 2023, WWE put on PLEs in Montreal, Puerto Rico, Saudi Arabia and London. The 2024 PLE schedule is shaping up to be even more diverse with WWE having already announced Elimination Chamber in Perth, Australia; Backlash in France; Bash in Berlin in Germany and now Money in the Bank in Toronto.
Although Toronto has always been a popular PLE location for WWE, Money in the Bank has never taken place in the city, and Toronto has not played host to a major WWE event since SummerSlam 2019.
While WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, SummerSlam and Survivor Series have long been viewed as WWE's "big four" premium live events, Money in the Bank has made a strong case to be included in that conversation in recent years.
A large portion of the roster is typically showcased on the MITB card due to the men's and women's Money in the Bank ladder matches, and the winners of those bouts are guaranteed a future world title shot at a time and place of their choosing.
WWE has also made a habit of putting other huge matches on the Money in the Bank card, including the Bloodline Civil War pitting Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa against The Usos last year.
Over the past year, WWE has made almost every PLE feel like a big deal due in part to the global focus, and that vision is clearly being taken to another level since the merger with UFC into TKO Group Holdings.
