Under Armour All-American Game 2012: 3 Prospects Notre Dame Is Targeting

Randy ChambersJan 4, 2012

With the college football season coming to a close, it's about that time to look forward to the recruiting process. Which top players are going where and which teams can land the most impressive young talent?

Notre Dame already has an impressive recruiting class, but it could always be better. The Irish are still in the race for several top players that will be playing in this year's Under Armour All-American Game. This of course is an All-Star game that features some of the top high school players in the country.

Here are some of the players you should keep an eye on and that the Irish certainly are.

OG Joshua Garnett

1 of 3

Team: White

While this class has several talented offensive linemen, very few are as good as Joshua Garnett. At 6'5", 275 pounds, Garnett is probably the best drive-blocking guard in this year's class. He's got a motor that never stops, high football IQ and great athleticism at his size. The Irish already have three commitments from solid tackles and adding a guard with Garnett's talent will really improve this class.

He recently visited with Notre Dame but is also interested in Michigan, Stanford and Miami, among others.

CB Davonte Neal

2 of 3

Team: Black

Davonte Neal is one of the top cornerbacks in this class. Although he doesn't have great size at 5'11", 175 pounds, he is a tough kid and has terrific speed. He's capable of playing any side of the ball and would make an explosive return man in special teams. Put the ball in this guy's hands and he's a big play just waiting to happen.

The only school he's visited so far is Notre Dame, but he also has offers from Arkansas, Auburn, LSU and Miami, among others.

DE Ifeadi Odenigbo

3 of 3

Team: Black

Odenigbo has so much upside it's scary. He's 6'3", 217 pounds and runs the 40 in about 4.5 seconds. He has great explosion and a lethal combination of speed and power. He has the potential to play either linebacker or defensive end at the college level. This kid is special and would really help the Irish as they will lose a lot of experience this season.

He's also interested in teams like Stanford and Northwestern.
