Anthony Davis on Vegas Tournament Games: Lakers Feel Like Every Game Is a Home Game
The Los Angeles Lakers are headed to Las Vegas for an in-season tournament matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans, and it could feel like a home matchup for the Purple and Gold with L.A. and the desert being in close proximity.
However, Lakers star Anthony Davis told reporters Wednesday that the team feels like every game is a home game as fans of the Purple and Gold typically travel well.
"We feel like wherever we go it's a home game for us," Davis said.
The Lakers defeated the Phoenix Suns 106-103 on Tuesday night to clinch a berth in the in-season tournament semifinals against the Pelicans.
Davis was one of L.A.'s top performers against Phoenix, finishing with 27 points, 15 rebounds, one assist and two blocks.
Thursday's game between the Lakers and Pelicans should be particularly intriguing as Davis will be going up against his former team, having played in New Orleans for seven seasons from 2012-19.
Fans of the Purple and Gold shouldn't have difficulty supporting the team in Las Vegas as Los Angeles is just a six hour drive to the Sin City while a nonstop flight is a little more than one hour.
Lakers fans have always traveled well, so there's little double L.A. will be playing in front of a favorable crowd on Thursday night.
It will be much more difficult for fans of the Pelicans to get to Las Vegas as the drive from New Orleans to the city is 26 hours and a nonstop flight is nearly four hours.
The Lakers have been much better at home this season, posting a 9-2 record in Los Angeles and a 4-7 record on the road. That said, it's clear the home crowd gives the Purple and Gold an extra boost.
The Pelicans have also been better at home this season, posting an 8-4 record in New Orleans and 4-6 record on the road.
