WWE News: What to Expect from Chris Jericho's Return
The budding legend Chris Jericho is back. Depending on how you look at it, this may be a good thing or a bad thing.
It's a good thing because Jericho is usually unpredictable, and makes the product worth watching. Nine times out of ten he delivers, both on the mic and in the ring.
All hail the return of Y2J. On the other hand, his return could be a bad thing if he isn't properly utilized. At this stage of the game what could Jericho bring to the table that hasn't already been done before?

He's not exactly a young man in his twenties, ready to take us on another wild ride. He's in his forties; hopefully, he'll still be able to go after being away from the ring for so long. Time will tell.
Jericho's return to the company says a lot. It says that they obviously expect big things to happen now that he is back, and have faith in him to carry the ball. Jericho can put over the younger talent. He can have intriguing matches with performers like CM Punk and Randy Orton.
Someone like Daniel Bryan could definitely gain credibility working with Jericho and have five-star matches. He could revisit his feud with Christian when Christian returns. Both Raw and especially SmackDown could benefit from having him on their programs.
Don't be surprised if he ends up winning one or two more championships along the way either. Jericho is indeed a superstar-legend and will be treated as such.
Yes, Jericho is a superstar-legend. He has done it all in the business. Unfortunately, Jericho won't be able to turn things around for the company, not by himself anyway. He is, after all, one man.
It will take more than one man, or a compelling storyline to keep us interested. That's usually the problem when you go back to the well too many times. Jericho is a veteran. He does have a proven track record. But he isn't someone you look at for a long-term fix.
His return will do but so much for a company that has seen hard times, and expecting a turn around. Besides how long will Jericho commit to the company this time?
He has outside interests just like The Rock. Although I believe we will see more of Jericho than we will of The Rock in the coming months, we still don't know for how long.
The fact that Jericho is back, also says a lot about how the company may view its current talent roster. Unfortunately the younger guys just don't seem to have that certain spark compared to their predecessors.
John Cena continues to grow stale week after week and remains an enigma. CM Punk isn't bringing in the ratings everyone expects him to, despite the fact that he is one of the best in the business.
Older stars like Big Show, Kane and Mark Henry are being relied upon to make the product interesting again, but even they can do so much as injuries and age catch up.
Instead of thinking long term, the WWE is thinking short-term, just like TNA. Veterans have their status for a reason. It had to be earned. They know the insides and out better than the younger generation. Jericho knows is stuff, but is that enough in the current WWE Universe?
Chris Jericho's return needs to be put in the proper perspective. It will accomplish increased viewership, bring about matches we have never seen before, and perhaps give us a reason to breathe a sigh of relief.
If nothing else, it will be interesting to see where Jericho is, say six months to a year from now. His return will either be hailed as one of the biggest disappointments of the year or a positive step in the right direction. Jericho will make the most of it regardless.
