WWE News: Major Update on Possibility of Rob Van Dam Returning to WWE
Professional wrestling fans have grown accustomed to seeing former WWE stars end up in TNA once they’re done with the WWE.
But, in 2011, we saw that trend reversed when three former World champions—Kevin Nash, Booker T and Mick Foley—all jumped ship from TNA to the WWE instead.
And now it appears as if we could see yet another former World champion and current TNA star in a WWE ring in the near future.

From SEScoops.com:
"Regarding the online rumor of Rob Van Dam returning to WWE, Power Slam confirms in their latest issue that RVD is seriously considering returning to the organization once his contract with TNA Wrestling expires. The magazine adds that the feeling is mutual as people in WWE want the master of the Five-Star Frog Splash back.
“RVD from what we’re told would receive a warm welcome in WWE,” the magazine says.
Providing that no contract extension has been reached since his arrival to TNA Wrestling in March 2010, it would appear that Van Dam will be a free agent in the near future. It was reported in 2010 that RVD had signed a two-year contract with TNA.
During his hiatus from full-time wrestling, Van Dam said he would consider returning to WWE if and when he felt ready.
“One thing that’s for sure is that WWE and I do have a good-faith understanding that if and when I’m ready to return that I’ll be talking to them. They look forward and hope that we’ll be doing business again,” he told the Baltimore Sun during an interview.

A potential RVD return to WWE could be very interesting to say the least.
Rob Van Dam has made it pretty well-known that he has a fondness for marijuana, and given that the WWE’s Talent Wellness program is far stricter than any type of drug testing process TNA might have (which it basically doesn’t), I’m really not sure how RVD would fare in another WWE run.
I suppose he could pull a Christian—leave WWE, go to TNA and then go back to WWE for a World title run—but he’s getting up there in age and has lost a step in the ring, while Captain Charisma returned to the WWE on top of his game. Therefore, I don’t think that’s very likely whatsoever.
Plus, I’m not sure how RVD will feel about going from that friendly TNA TV taping schedule to that not-so-friendly WWE travel schedule, because as big of a star as RVD may be, Vince McMahon is not going to let him work a part-time schedule.
Since RVD wouldn’t be coming back as an announcer (like Booker T) and has more gas left in the tank than someone like Nash did, he’s going to have to be willing to be on the road full-time and help put over some of the WWE’s younger stars.
Is that something that RVD is willing to do? I’m not sure it is, but I guess we’ll have a better idea if that’s the case when his TNA contract expires a couple of months from now.
