Chris Jericho: Man Behind WWE's "It Begins" Angle; Analyzing His Return (Video)
Last night on Raw, fans finally got the answer to who was behind the cryptic "It Begins" videos which have been airing for weeks without so much as a word about them from WWE announcers.
Some fans were shocked, but most could have predicted accurately that the person returning was Chris Jericho. His return was none the less interesting as he left fans asking more questions than ever.
He came out to the ring to a giant ovation, and soaked it in by getting out of the ring multiple times to keep embracing the crowd. He appeared to be back to his old Y2J self as he was decked out in leather pants and a light up jacket which would have made Michael Jackson jealous.

He teased speaking to the crowd several times before finally going up to the top of the ramp, looking at the crowd and walking off without so much as a word, minus his yells to hype the audiences cheers up a bit more.
This left some fans in attendance booing the best in the world at what he does, while others were left silent. Some fans of course continued to cheer, but for the most part, this was one of the most confusing returns I can remember.
Did Jericho come back with the same heel attitude towards the fans as when he left? Was this his way of proving he could make the crowd do whatever he wanted, whether it be cheer him or boo him?
Whatever his motives were, this is certainly a storyline which will be getting some attention until it is addressed by WWE.
The two biggest questions are who is Jericho back to feud with, and what does this mean for the young superstars who have elevated themselves over the last couple of years while Jericho was out touring with his band?
The obvious answer to the first question would be CM Punk. He is WWE champion, claiming to be the best in the world and the top dog on Raw at the moment.
As far as the second question goes, I doubt Jericho's return will impact anyone in any way except in a positive way. Jericho is not the guy who needs to hog the spotlight, he is at a point where he is going to be looking to help the younger talent get over.
His last run with the company saw great success for Jericho, but I have a feeling we have only seen the beginning. With HBK retired, Undertaker on a lighter than air schedule and Triple H mostly working behind the scenes, Jericho is one of the few credible veterans left to mold these kids.
Cena is around a decade in, so he sort of counts as a veteran, but Jericho is a guy who many of the young wrestlers in the back emulated as they were coming up in the business, Cena included.
Kane is probably closer to retirement than most think and Christian is still looking to carve his own legendary path in the business.
Jericho is the new gold standard in WWE. He is the guy who will be doing the Shawn Michaels level performances at WrestleMania for one simple reason, because he can.
Jericho is one of the most naturally talented wrestlers in the business and his skill can make anyone else elevate their game to a whole new level.
Whether he is a heel feuding with Punk, Ryder and Bryan or he is a face feuding with Barrett, McIntyre and Ziggler, he will be able to put on a good show.
I am hoping this whole situation is resolved quickly because I am not a fan of the way this went down. I though that having him return the way he did was interesting, but it could have been so much more impactful had we not had the weeks of videos.
There was no explanation to his strange behavior, which would have been that much cooler had WWE not given us clues that he was coming back.
Those video packages were a great ploy by WWE, but they would have worked much better for Kane or The Undertaker given the dark tone.
Jericho is not going to come out and start talking like he is a grown up version of the Children of the Corn kids, so I do not get the nature of the videos in relation to him other than they threw us off the trail for a bit and made us suspect other people.
Bottom line, I am happy Jericho is back because he will add some credibility to the WWE roster which has been missing for some time now.
What did you think of Chris Jericho's strange return last night?
