Booking Logan Paul's Upcoming Run in WWE Including MITB and SummerSlam

Graham GSM MatthewsJun 18, 2023

Logan Paul, one of WWE's biggest blockbuster signings in recent years, will made his highly-touted return to Raw this Monday night. What he has in store, however, remains to be seen.

The social media sensation last appeared on Night 1 of WrestleMania 39, where he fell short against Seth Rollins in what was unsurprisingly an excellent outing. Paul has had nothing but stellar showings every time he's competed since signing with WWE in the summer of 2022.

One week removed from WrestleMania, it was announced that he had renewed his contract with the company for an undisclosed amount of time.

That gives him much more to strive for going forward, including championship gold. His sole title shot came at Crown Jewel 2022 when he unsuccessfully challenged Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

Plenty of opponents are available for him to work with, and the possibilities shouldn't be limited to any one brand.

Money in the Bank and SummerSlam are shaping up to be massive shows, and with Paul bound to be involved in both, there are a number of different directions WWE can go in with him.

Answering Seth Rollins' Open Challenge

1 of 7

The most obvious role for Paul on Raw this Monday would be as Seth Rollins' opponent for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Rollins emerged victorious when they went one-on-one at WrestleMania, but there could still be unfinished business on Paul's end. The Visionary now being in possession of the newly-created Big Gold would make a rematch all the more appealing.

The Media Megastar has been very vocal in the past about wanting to win a championship in WWE at some point during his career, preferably on the sooner side. Going for the gold on Monday night would provide him that opportunity, despite the odds of him actually winning being slim to none.

It's also possible Paul rekindles his rivalry with Rollins on Raw in some form or fashion to build to a bout between the two at SummerSlam. It wouldn't necessarily be a fresh match considering they just wrapped up their feud in April, but it would undoubtedly be a marquee match for that event with the stakes higher than they were back at 'Mania.

Entering Money in the Bank as a Last-Minute Entrant

2 of 7

If Paul entering the world title picture isn't in the cards any time soon, becoming Mr. Money in the Bank would certainly keep him in the conversation.

WWE has said that the field for this year's men's Money in the Bank Ladder match has been set, but that hasn't stopped the promotion in the past from adding one more entrant at the last minute. Look no further than Austin Theory, who captured the contract last year upon being added to the bout mere moments before it got underway.

Paul can find his way into the matchup somehow on Raw, though having him win it over some of the other Superstars involved would be a mistake.

Nonetheless, his flashy style would make him a perfect fit for Money in the Bank and a legitimate threat to the rest of the competitors. His involvement in the match could simultaneously allow him to shine in a multi-man environment and set up for whatever he ends up doing at SummerSlam.

Setting Sights on Various SmackDown Superstars

3 of 7

It's entirely possible Paul's Raw return ends up being a red herring, designed to segue into something on SmackDown instead.

Between Raw and SmackDown, there are more available babyfaces for Paul to be programmed with on Friday nights. Raw has its fair share of top talents he can feud with eventually, but none appear to be realistic scenarios for SummerSlam.

Meanwhile on the blue brand, Bobby Lashley, AJ Styles and Edge are all without proper rivals at the moment. Of the three, Lashley is the least likely because of the styles clash, though Paul having to evade Lashley's offense could make for a quality contest.

Styles has been at odds with Karrion Kross as of late, but their rivalry can quickly be resolved before a big match with Paul at SummerSlam. As an established star on the roster, Styles can lose to Paul without doing damage to his credibility while also giving him one of his best matches to date.

Edge has hardly appeared on WWE TV since beating Finn Balor at WrestleMania, but a SummerSlam match with Paul could be big enough to bring him back to television.

Drew McIntyre's First Feud Back

4 of 7

Amid rumors of his contract expiring soon, Drew McIntyre's status–as well as his future–with WWE remain very much in doubt.

Money in the Bank emanating from London should make a McIntyre return to WWE TV more likely, but it's far from set in stone. Raw, where he was drafted to last month, would benefit from having him back in the fold and a feud between him and Paul toward the top of the card en route to SummerSlam.

McIntyre and Paul are polar opposites in almost every way and would therefore make for excellent rivals. There's a simple story to be told with Paul representing everything McIntyre disdains (similar to Paul's recent rivalry with Rollins) and McIntyre wanting to rid the company of him.

If The Scottish Warrior is ready to return in time for Money in the Bank, him interrupting a Paul promo at the event would make for a memorable moment and put them on a collision course for SummerSlam.

Per Fightful Select, McIntyre wants a meaningful storyline to come back to, and as a high-profile opponent, Paul should be considered a compelling option.

Reuniting with The Miz in the Tag Team Division

5 of 7

Paul's first formal feud as a contracted WWE Superstar came against The Miz heading into SummerSlam 2022. Their bad blood stemmed from Miz betraying Paul following their tag team win over The Mysterios at WrestleMania 38.

Although Paul was miscast as a babyface during their program, working with a heel as detested as Miz made it easy for him to get over in the role. They wound up having a highly enjoyable affair at SummerSlam that culminated with Paul beating Miz with his own finisher, the Skull Crushing Finale.

With Monday's Raw emanating from Paul's home state of Ohio, it wouldn't be completely far-fetched for him to reunite with fellow hometown hero Miz and enter the tag team mix.

The two made for a fun tandem at WrestleMania last year and went their separate ways before they could chase championship gold. They could conceivably put their differences aside and reform that partnership now that Paul has reverted to his roots as a heel.

They'd be fantastic foils for reigning Undisputed WWE Tag Team champions Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens and be a strong addition to an already-loaded tag team division.

Planting the Seeds for a Future Feud with Cody Rhodes

6 of 7

Cody Rhodes is not only among Raw's biggest babyfaces these days but also among the brand's busiest stars as well.

He's had a massive target on his back since returning in the Royal Rumble back in January and has taken on all comers. Following the fluky fashion in which Brock Lesnar beat him at Night of Champions, all signs point to the two finishing their feud with a rubber match at SummerSlam.

That would clearly rule out a Rhodes vs. Logan Paul match for that event, but it should be inevitable, and there's no reason why they can't plant the seeds for it as early as Monday's Raw.

Once Rhodes runs through Lesnar and Dominik Mysterio, Paul can waiting in the wings for his next feud in the fall. Assuming the plan is to keep The American Nightmare out of world championship contention until next year, Paul can keep him busy through the remainder of the year if it's booked as more than a one-off.

Paul should go after WWE's most beloved babyfaces if he wants to be recognized as a main event player and Rhodes would elevate him to that level with ease.

Settling a Legitimate Beef with Bad Bunny

7 of 7

It isn't often that WWE hosts celebrity vs. celebrity matches, and although it's rarely ideal, Logan Paul vs. Bad Bunny would surely be the ultimate attraction for WWE.

Both Bunny and Paul have excelled as WWE's go-to celebrity wrestlers in recent years and have stolen every show they've been a part of. They have yet to cross paths inside the squared circle, but it may need to happen in the not-too-distant future based on comments Paul has made about Bunny in the past.

Interestingly, Paul has also praised Bunny on his Impaulsive podcast, saying that the musician has "no business being as good as he is." Putting them in the ring together could make for quite the spectacle, regardless of who goes over.

The only issue WWE runs into with this program is getting both men to appear on Raw to build up their bout, as neither of them are full-time performers. Otherwise, they'd be guaranteed to have a great dynamic and a one-on-one outing sells itself.

If WWE intends to make this year's SummerSlam as star-studded as possible, adding Paul vs. Bunny to the card would be a no-brainer.
