Peter King: If Aaron Rodgers Traded to Jets, 'It Likely Wouldn't Be Till the Summer'
If the New York Jets are looking to Aaron Rodgers as their short-term savior at quarterback, then they might have to be patient.
NBC Sports' Peter King wrote Monday in his weekly column that a trade between the Jets and Green Bay Packers "likely wouldn't be till the summer."
To say this is a fluid situation would be an understatement.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Rodgers hasn't even decided whether he wants to continue playing into the 2023 season. If he signals a desire to suit up, then the Packers need to choose between the four-time MVP and 2020 NFL draft pick Jordan Love. In the event Rodgers is made available, the Jets would not only need to put together a worthwhile trade offer but also renegotiate his contract.
Absent some sort of handshake agreement, the timeline presented by King wouldn't be ideal for New York or any other team potentially in the market for Rodgers.
Once you hit summer, the draft is over and most of the best veteran QBs have either been signed or traded. A franchise could wait around in the hope of landing Rodgers, only to be left empty-handed with few viable alternatives on the table.
The Jets' need for an upgrade at quarterback is clear after this season. General manager Joe Douglas should be careful not to put all of his eggs in one basket, though.
