San Francisco 49ers vs. St. Louis Rams: 5 Key Stats from the First Half
Today the St. Louis Rams take on the San Francisco 49ers in a key division matchup. St. Louis is hoping to play spoiler and not allow SF to clinch a first-round bye.
Before action starts in the second half, let's take a quick look at five key stats from the first two quarters of this game.
18: Yards on Kellen Clemens' TD run in the first quarter
On the Rams' opening drive, QB Kellen Clemens broke four SF tackles on his way to an impressive 18-yard touchdown run. Prior to this game the Niners had only allowed one rushing touchdown on the season.

62.9: Clemens' QB rating
Clemens has not been that terrible today, as the Rams have not given him too many chances to make mistakes. Steven Jackson is the backbone of this team, but if St. Louis wants to come back in the second half, it is going to have to let Clemens air it out.
2: Missed tackles on Michael Crabtree's TD
This stat truly tells the story of the Rams' season. St. Louis has again been terrible at wrapping up in the first half and the Niners have made them pay.
Crabtree turned a quick screen into a 28-yard TD, breaking through two St. Louis tackles near the sidelines.
1: Questionable play call
This may not be the most interesting stat, but the Rams' failed trick play might have been the most crucial play of the first half.
St. Louis' play-calling was solid early, as Steven Jackson was able to get decent gains on the ground. This terrible call swung all the momentum to SF as it was able to capitalize on Jerious Norwood's interception and take the early lead.
1-of-7: Rams' third-down efficiency in the first half
St. Louis has been horrible on third down today, constantly being held to third-and-long situations. The Rams need to start getting gains on early downs, because Clemens has shown little to no signs of life in the long-yardage passing game.
