3 Available NFL Free Agents Packers Must Pursue to Stop Losing Streak
The Green Bay Packers' 2022 season sank to a new low in Week 6 with back-to-back losses to the New York teams.
A 27-10 loss to the Jets has the Packers looking at a 3-3 record and two-game skid heading into a three-game road trip that includes matchups against the Washington Commanders, Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions.
Through six weeks of the season, the Packers' season has not gone according to plan. After winning at least 13 games in each of the last three campaigns, they have nearly matched their loss total from last year in six games.
All is far from lost, though. There is still a lot of talent on the roster, but it wouldn't hurt Brian Gutekunst to continue to work to add more to the roster.
The trade market is one avenue worth exploring, but there are still some free agents who could offer some solutions as well. Here's a look at some players the general manager should be calling.
WR Will Fuller V

Will Fuller V likely remains unsigned because he has been an injury magnet from the day he joined the league. But at this point, the Packers really can't be choosy.
This offense has completely stalled out. Scoring 10 points against the Jets just happens to be the worst moment yet for an offense that has not really been clicking all year.
The season-high for this offense is 27 points against the Chicago Bears. They needed overtime to hit that number against the New England Patriots. By Week 6 last year, they had scored 27 or more in three of their six games.
The plan to replace Davante Adams with a collection of rookies and holdovers with smaller roles has not worked out thus far.
Reinforcements are needed, and Fuller's ability to stretch the defense vertically would be an immediate upgrade.
The 28-year-old was a complete bust for the Dolphins last season, playing in just two games before a hand injury ended his season. However, he averaged 16.6 yards per reception with 879 yards and eight touchdowns in 11 games for the Houston Texans in 2020.
Even if Fuller winds up getting hurt, he's the injection of speed and excitement this offense needs right now, and that should take priority over a long-term outlook.
Edge Dee Ford

The offense has had its fair share of problems, but the Packers defense has faltered at times as well.
Thanks to Rashan Gary and Preston Smith, the Packers pass rush has some teeth, but there isn't much production outside of those two. Kenny Clark has two sacks to his name, but Jarran Reed and Kingsley Enagbare have just one while Dean Lowry has a half-sack.
A third edge rusher to rotate Gary and Smith out of the game or play in sub-packages would elevate the overall ceiling of the unit.
The free-agent market doesn't have a ton of options, but Dee Ford is an interesting name.
Ford has plenty of playoff experience from his time with the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers. He also showed last season that he can still get after passers when healthy with three sacks in six games.
Kyle Shanahan said that Ford got a "good bill of health from his doctors" before the team cut him in the summer.
If his back is truly healthy enough for him to play, he could be a great third pass-rusher that would give the Packers pass rush even more punch.
T/G Daryl Williams

Royce Newman has been a downright liability for the Packers at right guard. According to PFF numbers, he allowed six pressures on 44 pass-blocking snaps against the Jets and has already conceded 18 on the season.
An offensive line is only as good as its weakest link, and Newman has had six weeks to prove he can get it together. Thus far, he hasn't, and the Packers should be looking to make a change.
There are in-house answers to the solution.
Rookie Zach Tom could be given an opportunity. Elgton Jenkins has the ability to kick inside and play guard while Yosh Nijman takes over at right tackle and David Bakhtiari is given the go-ahead to be the full-time left tackle.
But the Packers haven't gone to any of those options yet. So it's also possible they look to the outside for help.
If they do, it would make sense to target Daryl Williams. The mauler has played both right guard and right tackle for the Bills and played 1,172 snaps, giving up just four sacks on the season.
Regardless of how the Packers choose to handle it, replacing Newman has to be a top priority to get out of their losing streak.
