Early WWE Crown Jewel 2022 Match Card Predictions After Extreme Rules
With Extreme Rules in the rearview mirror, WWE will turn its attention to building its next premium live event, the blockbuster Crown Jewel extravaganza from Saudi Arabia. Already headlined by undisputed WWE universal champion Roman Reigns vs. Logan Paul, the show is bound to attract the attention of both fans and interest mainstream onlookers.
What else should fans expect from the show, though?
Based on ongoing storylines and the events of Saturday's spectacular, these are just a few of the matches that should be considered for the company's return to Riyadh.
Raw Women's Championship Match: Bianca Belair vs. Bayley
1 of 5Bianca Belair may have successfully retained her Raw Women's Championship against Bayley at Extreme Rules, but it certainly feels like The EST's battles with the leader of Damage CTRL are far from over.
With that in mind, Crown Jewel appears to be the next logical stop in their feud, with Bayley making history by defeating the babyface and winning the title so many assumed she would secure in Philadelphia.
Look for some stipulation that bars Dakota Kai and Iyo Sky from ringside, ensuring things stay one-on-one.
At least until Damage CTRL unveils a new member that will stand by their side come November's War Games at Survivor Series.
Dexter Lumis vs. The Miz
2 of 5Dexter Lumis has made The Miz's life a living hell from the moment he returned to WWE, popping up in the most haunting and terrifying of ways and leaving the Hollywood A-Lister constantly looking over his shoulder for the unpredictable enigma.
Crown Jewel seems like as good a place as any to bring the two together in a sanctioned match, and billing it as Lumis' first since returning would add extra gravity.
Of course, it would be rather one-sided and hardly a mat classic, but the feud is over, Lumis has been pitch-perfect in his appearances, and no one does this over-the-top character stuff as well as The Miz.
Reward it on one of the biggest cards of the year.
United States Championship Match: Bobby Lashley vs. Seth Rollins
3 of 5Bobby Lashley and Seth Rollins may clash Monday night on a special "season premiere" episode of WWE Raw, but that should serve as the latest chapter in their feud, not their last.
A rematch between two of the biggest stars on the flagship show is a great way to bolster what the company considers a marquee event. It also keeps both men busy given the distinct lack of other obvious paths for them ahead of the November 5 extravaganza.
The best way to set that up is for Rollins to rebound from his Extreme Rules loss to Matt Riddle by having him defeat Lashley for the United States Championship. Lashley cashes in on his guaranteed rematch and, presto change-o, you have a high-profile title match on the lineup.
Is it the most exciting or dynamic booking? No, but not everything has to be.
Edge, AJ Styles, Rey Mysterio and Beth Phoenix vs. Judgment Day
4 of 5A match pitting Edge, AJ Styles, Rey Mysterio and Beth Phoenix against Judgment Day's Finn Balor, Dominik, Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley is big enough and chock full of story threads that it could conceivably be the co-headliner.
There is the distrust that would surely exist between Edge and Styles given how their year started, the family drama between the Mysterios and the escalation of the feud between the Rated-R Superstar and Finn Balor following the events of Extreme Rules, which saw Ripley blast Phoenix with a Con-Chair-To.
The match would be red-hot, the desire to see Phoenix and Ripley clash for the first time would be high, and the potential payoff for the feud with the babyfaces coming out on top is enough to justify the feel-good moment in front of the Saudi fans.
The only potential wrinkle in that idea? If WWE Creative wants to hold off for a War Games match at Survivor Series or have Judgment Day go over.
Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship Match: Brawling Brutes vs. The Usos
5 of 5The Brawling Brutes apparently settled their rivalry with Imperium at Extreme Rules via their victory in a Good Old-Fashioned Donnybrook. What better way to maximize their momentum, at least partially, than by programming them against The Usos in time for a huge tag team title match?
Butch and Ridge Holland can target Jimmy and Jey's Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championships while Sheamus battles Solo Sikoa and/or Sami Zayn. The title match is the one in question here, though, as it would be a solid addition to any card, the least of which being one the magnitude of Crown Jewel.
There are enough outside factors to keep things interesting beyond the four competitors in the match itself, and the action should more than warrant its inclusion on the card. Give them the time, the opportunity and reap the rewards.
