The Baltimore Ravens will have one of the best running backs in the NFL in their backfield for the next two years.

On Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported the Ravens agreed to a two-year contract with star ball-carrier Derrick Henry. The deal will reportedly pay Henry $16 million and is worth up to $20 million. Henry is guaranteed $9 million in the first year of the deal, per Schefter.

Henry confirmed the agreement on his X account:

Henry spent the first eight seasons of his NFL career with the Tennessee Titans, establishing himself as a workhorse who can be the focal point of any offense. After signing a four-year, $50 million deal with Tennessee in 2020, Henry carried a $16.4 million cap hit for the 2023 season and became a free agent at the end of the year.

In 2023, Henry was the lone bright spot in Tennessee's offense, playing all 17 games and ranking second in the NFL with 1,167 rushing yards on a league-high 280 carries with 12 touchdowns. He also added 28 catches for 214 yards on his way to earning his fourth career Pro Bowl selection.

However, the Titans finished with a 6-11 record and missed the playoffs for the second straight year. Head coach Mike Vrabel was fired and replaced by former Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan. While Henry became a free agent, Titans general manager Ran Carthon didn't rule out his potential return. Henry ultimately opted to move on.

The 2023 campaign was another strong season for Henry after he ranked second in the NFL with 1,538 rushing yards and tied for second with 13 touchdowns in 2022. He suffered a fracture in his foot midway through the 2021 season that limited him to eight games. Despite the injury-shortened season, he still racked up 219 carries for 937 yards and 10 touchdowns.

It was just a few years ago that Henry was named NFL Offensive Player of the Year after a spectacular 2020 season. He finished with 2,027 yards and 17 touchdowns on 378 carries, becoming the eighth player in NFL history ever to record a 2,000-yard rushing season.

A second-round pick out of Alabama in 2016, Henry also earned second-team All-Pro honors in 2019 and first-team All-Pro honors the following year after leading the league in rushing in both seasons.

Adding Henry solidifies Baltimore's status as a contender to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl.
