Mike Richards Video: Watch Mike Richards Throw Tim Connolly's Head In The Boards
The NHL is the most underrated sport in this country. There is a little something for everyone in every game, but it doesn't resonate with Americans the way that it should.
Every NHL playoff game is as intense as a Chicago Bears-Green Bay Packers game, but we still fail to acknowledge it.
With that said, there are still so many reasons that the NHL needs to reform its rules, and make the game safer for the players on the ice. We see so many violent hits that it becomes very uncomfortable to watch at times.

Don't get me wrong, I want to see physical hockey. I just don't want to see someone's long-term health put in serious danger because of it.
For example, Sunday's game between the Philadelphia Flyers and Buffalo Sabres was as exciting a game as you will ever see. The Sabres built up a 3-1 lead at the end of the first period with a chance to close out the series on their turf. But the Flyers came back in the second and third periods and won it in overtime.
However, there was one moment that was extremely uncomfortable to watch. Flyers center Mike Richards is chasing the puck when he runs into Sabres center Tim Connolly along the boards. Richards just grabs Connolly's back and throws his head into the boards.
It really took away from what was an otherwise great game. The NHL needs to do something that will severely punish these kinds of hits before something catastrophic happens on the ice.
We all love physical play on the ice, but there has to be a limit to how much you can get away with.
