The Avalanche have lost yet another player due to injury. This time, it's Thomas Fleischman, who will miss the remainder of the season with blood clots in his lungs. We hope that he has a full and speedy recovery.

Now comes the strangest news out of the Avalanche front office:

Peter Forsberg will be practicing with the Avalanche this weekend.

Wow. What does this mean? Not really too sure yet.

He said, "I need to see where I am physically and practicing with NHL players is the best way to find that out."

Again, wow.

I'll go out on a limb here and say that Foppa and his bum ankles want to make a comeback. He is 37-years-old and can't skate the way he used to, but really, he's such a slick passer that he's arguably still better than the vast majority of third- or fourth-line players in the league.

The only question is, will those bum ankles hold up for the rest of the season? Will the Avs sign him if he's healthy enough?

With all the injuries the Avalanche have, it may not be a bad idea to sign him. They would not have to make a trade for another player, nor raid the minors once again. He would instantly be a veteran voice in the locker room that the young Avs desperately need.

He would be able to shore up a very suspect penalty kill, and his defense has to be better than Hunwick's.
