As 2011 begins and the NHL season continues, we prepare for what should be a fantastic year in the NHL.

We have already had fantastic games, including the Capitals 3-1 win in the Winter Classic.

Here is a look at the best games of the first week of January.

January 3rd

Blackhawks @ Kings (VERSUS)

Arguably the two best teams in the West face off in L.A. The Kings have become one of the best teams in the NHL, while Chicago is coming off the Stanley Cup Championship year last year. But the better goaltending will win this game, so L.A. will win.

Canucks @ Sharks

Lets see, how many stars will there be on the ice at the same time? Both Sedins, Marlau, Thornton, Heatley, Luongo, and more. But, once again the better goaltending will win, so the Canucks get the win on the road.

January 4th

Lightning @ Capitals

This will be the true test for the Lightning to see if they can overtake the Capitals as the best team in the Southeast division. The Caps are coming off their win over the Penguins in the Winter Classic, so they have the momentum. But the Lightning will win this game and prove they are for real.

January 5th

Lightning @ Penguins

And then they travel to Pittsburgh. A very tough two-game stretch for Tampa, so they will beat the Caps but lose to the Pens, but both games will be fantastic.

January 8th

Red Wings @ Canucks

Arguably the two best teams in the West face off in Vancouver. This game will be fantastic as the Wings are obviously the best team in the West right now. The Wings will win, but this will go down as the best game of the year.
