On Your Mark, Get Set, Sleep! The Raiders on Day One of Free Agency 2010

Raider Card AddictMar 5, 2010

For the players, coaches, owners and agents out there, it had to feel like the holiday season, all over again.

The salary cap was off and over 500 players—some with strings, and some free for the taking—went on the market to kick off the free agency period.

Some shocks were announced, like Jake Delhomme, ditched after a poor season. The Jets picked up a cornerback, and the Raider Nation can breathe easier for two reasons.

It wasn't Asomugha...it was Antonio Cromartie from the Chargers, who will play alongside Revis.

For the Raider Nation though, it was almost anti-climactic.

Anquan Boldin moved out, leaving the Cards for the Ravens. Julius Peppers went to Chicago...and it sounds like Brandon Marshall may look at Seattle as an option.

Oakland? We just resigned Khalif Barnes.

Who?

Last year the Raiders signed Barnes to a one year deal, only to see him break an ankle in training camp, limiting him to only six games all year.

This news is overshadowed by the signing of Kevin Ross, who was a defensive back coach with the Vikings and Chargers the last few seasons. After coaching in the UFL for a season, he was picked up by the Raiders to hopefully help the teams' defense that has been porous at times.

Day one is in the books, expect the chaos to last for about two weeks...and Al Davis to make one major trade at least.
