Former Running Back for Princeton University, the Indianapolis Colts, the New York Giants and in the XFL came on "The Sports Piece" podcast to talk about the NFL Playoffs. He played with Peyton Manning in Peyton's first few years in the league.
What was it like to play with Peyton Manning?
It's like having a coach on the field, but he's humorous, approachable and a good overall teammate. His ability to discern what a defense is going to do is one of his biggest assets. He was fun to play with.
How did he help you be a better football player in the NFL?
I played behind Marshall Faulk and Egderrin James, so when I was in the game he would instill the confidence in me that I belonged in the game. I may not have had the ability to turn a seven yard pass into a touchdown, but he knew I could get the job done.
He has the ability to make other players around him better.
What was it like to play for the Colts?
I came there from New York Giants which is one of the classiest and best organizations to work for. When I got to Indianapolis they were trying to get there. Then they brought Bill Polian in and he's one of the best around.
He brought in the right players and led them to where they wanted to go. I have to credit Bill Polian for building them to the classy organization they are.
What do you think of the fans in Indianapolis?
The fans love the players and no matter what the score will be, they won't throw snowballs at you and not just because it's in a dome. They are respectful and overall great fans.
Tell us about this weekend's game of the Colts vs. the Jets.
It wouldn't surprise me if they won because they have a great defense that reminds me of Ravens defense when they won. However, Peyton Manning is a scholar who can pick apart a defense. I think the game will be close and it wouldn't surprise me if the Jets won, but I think the Colts will pull it out.
Even though I think the game will close, it wouldn't suprise me if the Colts blow them out.
Some talk about how the Jets got this far into the playoffs.
He adds how nice he thinks it would be if the Super Bowl was a matchup between Brett Favre and Peyton Manning.
What are you doing in your life now?
I'm a motivational and inspirations speaker now and get a chance to motivate people around the world. www.keithelias.com I also am a writer where I just finished writing a fictional novel and looking for a publisher. I work closely with my church in helping young men and old men who may have made poor decisions.
Before we let you go what is your pick for the NFC Championship game?
That's a tougher pick but Minnesota.
