PART 4 OF 4

To wrap up my series on who the Steelers fans should be rooting for this weekend, I will end with the Vikings.

There are many reasons as to why to cheer for the Minnesota Vikings, but really, there is only one, to me, that matters.

It is not the fact that Mike Tomlin used to be the defensive coordinator. He did a great job there, but that is over and done with.

It is not the fact that the defense of the Vikings is smash mouth like the Steelers is (was?).

It is not because Adrian Peterson is fun to watch every time he touches the ball.

It is not even because the Steelers were the first team to defeat the Vikings this year.

There is only one reason that I need to be cheering for the Vikings, not only this weekend, but in the Super Bowl as well. Brett Favre.

Not because of the respect that I have for Favre. I think he is a great, and probably one of the greatest QBs ever to play the game. Even though Favre spells his name wrong (F-A-R-V-E, should be how it is spelled), that is not enough reason either.

So, what is it?

Simple. If Favre wins the Super Bowl this year, I see him retiring on the podium the same way that Bettis did. Favre knows that this year he is playing great. But how many people that play at the level of Favre get the chance to ride off into the sunset with the Lombardi in hand?

The only ones I can think of is Bettis and John Elway (Thanks Jason Albrecht).

I think if the Vikings win the Super Bowl this year, then Favre will be done, and we will not have another offseason like the past three, where the entire media is watching Favre every second of every day.

As a matter of fact, it should not only be Steelers fans rooting for the Vikings, but every fan of every other NFL team that is so sick of seeing the offseason full of Favre.

So for the next two and a half weeks, I am proudly saying that I want the Minnesota Vikings to win the Super Bowl.

Where can I comment?
