Shelley Duncan has seen brief success when he has played for The New York Yankees from 2007 to 2009.  It is a completely different story when he gets full time play with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, the Triple-A affiliate of the 27 time World Champs.

Duncan lead the International League in home runs (30) RBI (99), runs and extra base hits, thus being honored by the Topps Company of New York, as their Player of the Year.

Another Yankees farmhand, Austin Romine, who was named the Florida State League Player of the Year, finished in the top five of numerous FSL categories that include doubles, RBI, and extra base hits.

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Tampa Bay Rays had their respective players named Topps Player of the Year, to go along with the two Yankee winners.

Dee Gordon led the Midwest League with 12 triples and 73 stolen bases while Brian Cavazos-Galvez of the Ogden Raptors, was awarded the top player in the Pioneer League.

The Rays two top honorees Desmond Jennings and right-handed pitcher Alexander Colome had some very stellar numbers as well.

Among the league leaders in average, stolen bases, triples, on-base percentage and slugging percentage was Jennings, who accomplished this while playing only 100 games for the Montgomery Biscuits.

Colome dominated the New York Penn League racking up 94 strikeouts while keeping batters at bay with a .174 batting average and a minuscule 1.66 ERA, ranking second in the league.

Topps not only recognizes performances throughout the year, but also on a monthly basis.
